Senior Product Manager - Core Banking Platform
About the role
Avarda runs a portfolio of core banking platforms, internally developed and licensed, that support consumer lending, credit cards, deposits and payments across multiple European markets. These platforms manage customer accounts, product configuration, financial processing, servicing workflows and integrations with the wider banking ecosystem.
In this role, you will own the product agenda for the domain, including roadmap, priorities and requirements. You will work closely with engineering teams and platform vendors to evolve the bank's core banking capabilities, ensuring they meet business, operational and regulatory needs while supporting growth across products and markets.
What you'll do
Own the roadmap and backlog for the Core Banking domain, covering a portfolio of internally developed and licensed platforms.
Prioritise and sequence delivery together with the IT teams responsible for core banking systems and integrations.
Own the product logic supporting customer accounts and product lifecycle management, including product configuration, interest calculation, fees, billing cycles, repayment hierarchies, servicing processes and account lifecycle events.
Drive the evolution of core banking capabilities across lending, cards, deposits and payments.
Work closely with payment and card-processing teams to ensure seamless integration between core banking platforms, payment rails and external partners.
Shape platform decisions in an "orchestrate, not rip-and-replace" strategy: which products run on which platforms, what should be migrated, and which capabilities should be exposed through orchestration and customer-facing channels.
Translate business, regulatory, operational and accounting requirements into scenario-based, testable product requirements with clear acceptance criteria and traceability from requirement to test.
Act as product counterpart to platform vendors, including scope definition, acceptance testing and release sign-off.
Partner with operations, finance, compliance, risk and engineering teams to ensure platforms remain scalable, compliant and fit for future growth.
What we're looking for
Experience as a Product Manager, Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role within banking or financial services.
Strong understanding of core banking processes, including customer accounts, product setup, interest and fee handling, billing, repayments, servicing and product lifecycle management.
Experience working with platforms that support consumer lending, credit cards, deposits or transactional banking products.
Working knowledge of payments and card processing, including SEPA payments, settlements, reconciliations and payment integrations.
Proven ability to write precise, testable requirements for complex financial and operational processes and to follow them through delivery and acceptance.
Experience with platform migrations, modernisation programmes, or system consolidation initiatives in a live banking environment.
Comfortable operating across business, engineering, operations, finance, risk and compliance in a regulated environment.
Strong plus
Hands-on experience with Corniche (Megasol), Mambu, Temenos, Thought Machine, Finastra, TCS BaNCS, FIS or similar core banking platforms.
Experience with consumer lending, deposits, cards, BNPL or multi-product banking environments.
Experience working with vendor-operated platforms, including SLA management, acceptance testing and release governance.
What We Offer
Full product ownership of a strategically important Core Banking domain at the centre of the bank's operations and future growth.
Close collaboration with experienced IT teams and short decision paths.
A funded and active platform agenda including migrations, modernisation initiatives and expansion into new products and markets.
Competitive salary and benefits, with hybrid working.
