Lead Architect

About the Role

We are looking for a Lead Architect to define and drive the technical vision for our entire technology stack. As the senior authority on architecture, you will set principles, patterns, and standards that guide our engineering teams while enabling them to deliver efficiently and reliably.

This role partners closely with the Head of Platform Engineering to ensure that architectural decisions are operationally feasible, scalable, and aligned with business needs. You will also collaborate with software Architects to implement best practices, frameworks, and patterns across our systems.

What You’ll Do

Architectural Vision

  • Define and maintain the end-to-end target architecture across all systems and domains: backend, frontend, data, QA, and infrastructure.

  • Establish architecture principles, patterns, and standards that guide development across all teams.

  • Maintain architectural artifacts, including system diagrams, architectural decision records, and reference architectures.

Cross-Team Alignment

  • Collaborate with Software Architects to ensure technical coherence across all domains.

  • Review and challenge major design proposals to ensure consistent, high-quality technical decisions.

  • Partner with Engineering Managers to ensure architecture is applied consistently across product teams.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Software Architects, Engineering Managers, and senior engineers.

  • Mentor teams on design patterns, best practices, and long-term maintainability.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and frameworks, recommending adoption or deprecation as appropriate.

Governance & Communication

  • Lead or advise on technical forums, architecture boards, and design reviews.

  • Ensure architectural decisions balance innovation, scalability, and operational constraints.

  • Advocate for technical excellence while empowering teams to execute independently.

  • Systems are maintainable, scalable, and of high quality.

  • Software Architects’ practices are adopted effectively across engineering.

  • Architectural decisions are implemented with minimal operational rework.

  • Architecture aligns with platform, cloud, and developer experience capabilities.

Who You Are

  • Deep experience across full-stack systems, including backend (.NET), frontend (React), cloud (Azure), Data (MS Fabric) and 3rd party integrations.

  • Strong technical judgment with clear opinions on target architecture and best practices.

  • Skilled at influencing multiple teams and senior technical leaders without direct authority.

  • Experienced in mentoring, designing, and reviewing complex systems.

  • Familiar with modern software architecture patterns: microservices, Clean Architecture, domain-driven design, and cloud-first practices.

Who You’ll Work With

  • Software Architects (Backend/Frontend/QA/Data): Guide domain-level technical decisions.

  • Engineering Managers & Product Managers: Provide architectural guidance and review cross-team designs.

  • Head of Platform Engineering: Ensure operational feasibility and platform alignment.

  • CTO: Partner on strategic technology direction.
